Welcome to HackPrinceton Spring 2021, a student-run hackathon by Princeton University.
Here, you'll meet fellow hackers from around the world, learn new skills, and work alongside seasoned mentors. We'll have free workshops, lecture series, mentorship, prizes, games, and more. Don't have a team, or even an idea? Don't worry! We'll give you the tools to build something incredible.
TRACKS: We invite you to create projects under the following tracks.
1) Financial Technology
Financial technology is essential for the global economy and daily dealings of people. The fintech track is for hackers who want to integrate technology into financial activities to improve the consumer experience.
2) Health Technology
Healthcare is at the crux of civilization, ensuring the lives of many. The healthtech track is for hackers who strive to solve health problems and improve people’s quality of life through innovative application of technology.
3) Automation
Automation is at the heart of any modern process. From business logistics to daily life, automation is ubiquitous. The automation track is for hackers who want to reduce human involvement in processes through software like machine learning.
4) Clean Technology
Climate change is the wicked problem of the 21st century. Many countries and organizations are pushing the boundaries to become carbon-neutral. The cleantech track is for hackers who aim to improve environmental sustainability through the use of technology.
Eligibility
All participants must be enrolled in an undergraduate/graduate program and ages 18+. Participants may come from all over the world. Teams have a maximum size of 4 people.
Requirements
1. You must submit a link to their project's public GitHub repository created between April 2-4, 2021
2. You must submit a video demo that does not exceed 2 minutes in length. Remember to leave time to upload your video to YouTube/any other platform and add the link to your video to your Devpost submission. Demo videos should clearly indicate the problem your hack attempts to solve and a walkthrough of your hack's functionality.
3. Please select the appropriate prizes your project is competing for.

Standard 1st Place
This award goes to the first place overall team decided by the judges. Each member of the winning team will receive a Nintendo Switch + Pro Controller handheld game console.
Standard 2nd Place
Each member of the 2nd place team will receive a Corsair K95 RGB Platinum XT Mechanical Gaming Keyboard, or Sony Wireless Noise Cancelling Headphones.
Standard 3rd Place
Each member of the 3rd place team will receive a JBL Go 3 (ultra-portable waterproof Bluetooth speaker).
Best Design
Each member on the team for best design will receive a 3Doodler Create+ Pen, the re-engineered version of the world's first 3D printing pen, or a Lepro Smart Table Lamp.
Best Social Impact
Each member on the winning team for best social impact will receive Beats Studio 3 Wireless Headphones in Grey. Sponsored by HRT.
Best Social Media Hack
There’s no better time than now for new ideas in social networking! Build a better social network. There are many opportunities: matching to meet new friends, improved groups, better event calendaring, verifying authenticity of people, moderating speech, and more. Reimagine how people connect and help change the world.
Criteria: Either start a new social network, or build a feature or concept that inspires how to improve existing social networks. We seek solutions that balance virality and engagement with connecting people meaningfully and authentically.
Prize: $5K cash & $5K cloud credits. Winning team members will also get access to workshops & mentor hours with thought leaders in social networking. Cloud credits will include AWS, Twilio, etc.
Pinnacle Prize
Each winning team member will receive tickets and full travel reimbursement to Pinnacle, which invites the world’s top 50 collegiate hackathons for an epic finale event in fall 2021. More information can be found here: https://pinnacle.us.org
1517 Prize for Most Novel Hack
$1K grant and $10K of AWS credits to the most novel hack we see. Team must be in undergrad and interested in continuing to work on their project post-hackathon. 1517 is a venture capital firm backing founders at the earliest stages of their careers and companies by investing in teams led by dropouts, deep-tech scientists, and founders working outside of tracked institutions.
Best Use of @ Company API
The @ protocol is a simple way to create an app. Any project using the @ protocol is eligible to win this prize! Win $150 Best Buy gift card and $100 @protocol gift card.
Most Market-Ready Project
A 30-minute startup consulting call with Patrick, automatic acceptance into KuzoClass, $100 off KuzoClass program. This will be awarded to the project that is the closest to being a market-launchable product.
Most Likely to be a Startup

A reimbursed Zoom dinner with Contrary with $25 reimbursed DoorDash per person. The hackers who create a project that has the most potential to become a successful startup will win this prize!
Best AR/VR Project Powered by echoAR
$50 Amazon gift card, 3-month free Business Tier access to echoAR platform, a chance to be on echoAR’s “Inspiration” page. echoAR is a cloud platform for augmented and virtual reality (AR/VR) that provides tools and server-side infrastructure to help developers & companies quickly build and deploy 3D apps. The best project that uses this platform will be awarded!

Identifying problems and build a project to thoroughly solve them! How thoroughly does this hack solve the stated problem? Can you identify edge cases that would break the hack? Can this hack be used in real life to better somebody's life? -
Design
Create a polished experience! Does it feel like a quickly hacked-together project or something that is well thought out? Is the user experience and interface smooth and well-designed? Is this hack designed to most optimally solve the stated problem? -
Presentation/Demo
Articulate well the purpose and workings of your hack! Was the purpose and added value of this hack clearly stated in the demonstration? Is there a distinct problem this hack aims to solve and is the solution well presented?
